The majority of this tribe resides in Iraq in the provinces of Sulaimania, Diala, and Kirkuk. But the small town of Klaar and Halabcha are considered the provincial centre of residence of their leaders , with their main concentration located in the Shahrazoor historic hill area. Clans (families) of Jaff tribe spread their residence : Tallan and Ismael Azizi in Docaan and Sordash, Jafa Re Sheke in Beshder; while there are clans of Jaff like TaishaYe, Qader Miroissi, Bioyani, Gorgakosh in the Diala and Khanaqeen provinces, and a big number of the Glali clan in Erbil and surroundings. In Iran Jaff tribe reside in the provinces of Kirmenshah and Kurdistan spreading over Qasr Shereen and Azahab as far as the banks of the Sirwan river and Ali Aasi valley as far as the neighbourhood of the Senjabi tribe north and west of Kirmenshah city then northward toward Jwanrod, which is the original overall habitation of Jaff tribe. This extends to the areas of Drole, MeReKhel, Shamsheer, and surrounding areas of Pawa and Nossod city. The Jaff tribe can therefore be geographically divided into :

1- Jaff Moradi in Iraq 2- Jaff Jawanrod in Iran 3- Jaff Goran in Iran

The total population of the tribe reaches more than a million according to unofficial statistics from Iraq and Iran. The Jaff is considered the largest tribe in the Kurdistan. The most prominent clans of Jaff tribe in Iraq are : Mekaeli ,Warde Shatri, Roghzadi, Tarkhani, Bashki, Jengni, Harooni, Glali, Sadaani, Kamale Ee, Badakhi, Noroli, Yazdan Bakhshi, Wali, Nezweeni, Me Soawi, Mamoie, Shekh Ismaeeli, Sofi Wend, Tawgozi, Meraweli, Beshtemale, Ame Le, Isalie, Be Sari, Yosof Jani, Jojani, Qe Wele Ye, Tele Ko, Ismaeel Ozeri, Te Lan, Jafe Re Sheke and Shateri. The Jaff clans in Iran are : Rostom Begi, Wakeeli, Qobadi, Bawe Jani,, Enakhi, Emami, Satiari, Shemsheeri, Klashi, Zerdoye, Kokoye, Koyreki, Welidbegi, Qadir Mirwesi, Taishe ye, Kowek, Nerzi, Ali Yakhe ye, Be Bele, Do Roye, De Le Zeri, Derweeshi, Qe Lkhanchik, Gork Koj, Nerji, Eliasi, Sofi, Kake Re Shi, Gakhori, Keshti, Yosif Yar Ahmedi, Dar Khoor, Jawari, Eliare Ki, Byioyani, Qojali, Aali, Koze Ri, Bazani, Joghe Ye, Haweryi, Sayali.
